With over 30 years of experience in the non-profit sector, Ancuta is an active promoter of the social economy in Romania, carrying out research and development programs for social enterprises, cooperatives and mutual aid houses. Ancuta was founder and director of the foundation for the development of civil society in Romania and its Institute of Social Economy. He currently heads the Social Economy think tank the solidarity Laboratory. Ancuta also worked for the European Commission Delegation to Romania and was a high-level EU adviser to the Government of the Republic of Moldova on relations with civil society.
