Active Participation in Sibiu within the MountResilience Project: Angela Achiței and Elena Sobieski, Part of the European Effort for Climate Change Adaptation
Last week, Angela Achiței, President of the ADV Romania Group, and Elena Sobieski, social finance expert, took part in the second meeting of the Local Advisory Council of the Râu Sadului Demonstrator, held in Sibiu, as part of the European project MountResilience – Accelerating Climate Change Adaptation for Greater Resilience in European Mountain Regions.
The event brought together representatives of local authorities, partner organizations, experts, and community members for an open dialogue on the current status of the project and strategic directions for the coming period.
Angela Achiței and Elena Sobieski proudly represented the Social Finance Association, part of the ADV Romania Group. Their role within MountResilience is to contribute to the development of tangible social finance solutions that will support the scaling and sustainability of the pilot initiative even after the project ends.
This direction is being developed in partnership with FEBEA – the European Federation of Ethical and Alternative Banks and Financiers, with whom the Social Finance Association previously collaborated to create AFIN – the first majority social finance instrument in Romania, dedicated to funding organizations with social impact.
Among the innovative ideas discussed at the meeting was the proposal to establish a local cooperative, bringing together current partners and new community actors. This structure could serve as a sustainable vehicle to attract funding for the development and replication of the MountResilience solution in other mountainous regions of Romania and the European Union.
The MountResilience project is funded by the European Climate, Infrastructure and Environment Executive Agency (CINEA) under the HORIZON Innovation Actions program and brings together 47 partners from 12 European countries in a joint effort of innovation, climate adaptation, and building long-term resilience in regions most vulnerable to climate challenges.
